SN74CBT3251: Output voltage drop

Part Number: SN74CBT3251

Hi,

Our customer checked RDSON under the following condition.
①Vcc=5V,A=5V,Rload=2Mohm or 470ohm
②Vcc=4.5V,A=4.5V Rload=2Mohm or 470ohm

At condition ①, the output voltage is 4.08V (Rload = 2Mohm) or 3.64V (Rload = 470ohm).
Also, at the condition of ②, the output voltage is 3.578V (Rload = 2Mohm) or 3.113V (470ohm).

I could not understand why the voltage drop of about 1 to 1.5 V occurs under all conditions.
RDSON should be around max 20 ohm.
So, it should be a drop of "μV" order when Rload = 2 Mohm and a "mV" order when Rload = 470 ohm.

Could you give me some advice on this result?

Best regards,
Yuto Sakai

  • This device does not use a transmission gate but a single FET per channel. That 1 to 1.5 V is the threshold voltage of the FET.

    Please note that the datasheet does not specify any characteristics for I/O voltages above 2.4 V (which happens to be the VOH of TTL outputs).
