TS5A22362: Need Multiplexer to switch between Power and IO signal on same port

Part Number: TS5A22362

Hello E2E,

Need help to identify part that can be used to switch between a signal and power supply (SPDT-Single,Dual or Quad port - any). I see TS5A22362 can be used for upto 350mA with DBGA package but I am looking for more than 500mA and the IO impedance 50E maintained within the device.

Please suggest and give your opinion for above attaches use-cases.

Thanks.

  • Hi Tushar,

Most signal switches are used in 50-500mA applications.

Have you looked at the TS5A26542 - it has very low RON of 0.5 Ohm (typ) and supports current upto 450mA.

For more than 500mA, you would need to look into power switches - in that case I can connect this thread to the power switches team.

    Thanks

  • Hello Saminah,

    Thanks for your response.

    Few more questions on this,

    1. Is this current rating for the individual channel or both? Hope it supports 450mA per channel, please clarify.
    2. Is there any protection inside if the port exceeds the current?
    3. As you suggest for power switches to higher current, do you think those can be used for GPIOs as well?

    Thanks,

    Tushar

  • Hi Tushar,

    1. When switch is turned ON, it can carry maximum of 450mA in either direction, continuous.

in this switch, depending on "IN" state , NC to COM or NO to COM ports turn ON or for both channels.

    2. The ON state switch current specified in the absolute maximum ratings tables is the maximum current allowed to pass through the switch when it is in the "ON" state before we see damage done to the device.

    3. if the voltage is in the recommended operating conditions on the I/O, there should not be an issue.

Our signal switches are passive FET switches do not have any drive capability.  They are not like GPIOs that can source or sink current.  The switches will simply act as a wire and pass the voltage/current seen on the pin to the other side or not.

    Regards
