TS3A27518E: Device recommendation for I2S, PICe sidebands, JTAG, and UART signals

Part Number: TS3A27518E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX154E

E2E,

Please help me find mux solutions for the requirements bleow below:

  1. Regarding the I2S mux (Audio signals)
    1. 3:1 mux with 4 inputs and 12 outputs
    2. 1.8V signals
    3. Operating temperature is 0-85C
    4. Max data rate of max 73.728MHz
  2. Regarding the PCIe sideband signals
    1. 2:1 mux with 3 inputs and 6 outputs
    2. 1.8V signals (PCIE: Wake, CLKREQ, RESET)
    3. These would be static signals
    4. Operating temperature is 0-85C
    5. Ideally smaller than 2.36mm*2.36mm
  3. Regarding the JTAG mux
    1. These requirements have not changed
    2. 1.8V signals
    3. 2:1 mux with 6 inputs and 12 outputs
    4. Ideally a mux that would comply with the JTAG standard to avoid problems with the signaling
    5. Operating temperature is 0-85C
  4. Regarding a UART mux
    1. 2:1 mux with 2 inputs and 4 outputs
    2. 1.8V signals
    3. Operating temperature is 0-85C
    4. Ideally smaller than 2.36mm*2.36mm

Thank you,

Adam

  • Hey Adam,
The TI.com product search tool can actually help in narrowing down your search and finding the right part for you're looking for. You can filter your search based off of the configuration (looks like all of these are 2:1), bandwidth, and even size!
I went ahead and search for 3:1 and 2:1 switches that would satisfy the channel count and parameters you're looking for for you and here's what I found.

    1) So we don't actually have any 4 channel 3:1 but i'm going to recommend 2 x TMUX1209 as a multichip solution for this. Each one would be a 2 channel 4:1, so you would have 4 channels in the end. The QFN package though would keep the space used on the board minimal.

    2) There aren't any 3channel SPDT's that meet the size requirements but if you have some room to budge on this and it isn't as hard set of a requirement the TMUX1133 would be a good fit. It comes in a tssop package (4.4mm x 5mm)
If size is critical, the TMUX1574 could also would here. It is a 4channel 2:1 though so you will have extra channel but it comes in a 1.8mm x 2.6mm UQFN package so the size requirement would be met still.

3)The TS3A27518E fits what you're looking for. Can handle 1.8V, 6 channel 2:1, JTAG compatible with 0-85 operational range temperature.

4)The TMUX154E would be a good fit! It can handle signals up to 5.25V, comes in a 1.8mm x 1.4mm UQFN package, and even supports powered off protection so the chip will stay in High-Z when your power supply is 0V

I hope this helps and let me know if there's anything I can help you with
