Update from v5.3 to v5.5 problems

Errors during update from v5.3 to v5.5 on a Windows XP SP3 machine

Thanks

  • Hi David,

would you be willing to do a full fresh installation?   this is always a much cleaner path.  If so, use a new directory and do not install over the old installations.

Otherwise we would be happy to see if we can determine what went wrong.   Could you please send the log files referenced in the message?

These would be in the installjammer registry directory.  It may be hidden and is under program files or program files(x86)

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • I thought that I had attached the files requested.   I will try again.

I can certainly do a fresh install, but that is not always desired.  I have old packages that will also presumably be need to be re-installed ;-(

  • David,

Your log is showing the same problem as was observed here. Could you refer to post #2 and check what I was asking there? Could you also run the test in post #4 from that thread and let me know the result?

  • - Not a laptop, and not a NVidia controller "ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)"

    - Successfully installed the Debug Server using the test installer.

Looks like I am back to installing a fresh ccsv5.5.

    Thanks,

    -David

  • Before I went to install a fresh copy of CCS, I tried to rename "c:\ti" to "c:\ti_old".  It wouldn't allow me to saying that the folder was in use.  I finally figured out the cause was a stale "java.exe" process running.  I am guessing that perhaps it was running the debug server and that was preventing the install from completing successfully?  I'll know better next time and I will be sure to do a reboot BEFORE I install just to make sure none of the files are in use.

    Best Regards,

    -David

  • Hi David,

    just please keep us informed.

  • David,

Thank you for posting that observation. That could explain more than one failure case and is something we could check for.
