API for XDS100 and XDS110

Hi,

Is there an API for both XDS100 and XDS110 so that I can implement the firmware flashing of ICs into my own function/program? So that I do not need to install applications like "Flash Programmer 2" and "UniFlash".

I saw similar FAQ about XDS100 on http://processors.wiki.ti.com, but the answer says post it in the support forum, so i did.

If there is no API for it, is there any other method for me to implement firmware flashing via the XDS in my own program?

Hi,

Unfortunately we don't have a public API to interact with our Debug Probes.

If OpenOCD is a venue that works for you, both XDS100 (via the FTDI interface settings) and XDS110 (via the CMSIS-DAP interface) are supported. Details about the XDS110 support are mentioned at the following thread:

Thanks for replying! I will look at the OpenOCD and see if it'd work for me. :)

which had the similar problem that I am facing now.

Shlomi Itzhak mentioned: "If you are using PC for MCP upgrades, why not use it with Uniflash (you can always integrate it to the application you provide and execute the command line)?"

May I know how to integrate the UniFlash into my C# application? What are the commands for firmware upgrade?

Hi,

Uniflash is a tool designed to be smaller than CCS and perform flash programming of the devices.

Its latest inception is release 4 and it provides a flexible command line interface that can be called from a shell - it supports Windows, Linux and MacOS.

Hi Rafael,

You mean UniFlash v4? But what about v3? One of my MCUs is the CC3200, and UniFlash v4 does not support CC3200, am I right?

Hi,

Uniflash v3 also has a command line interface shown in section 3.3 of its Quick Start Guide.

Given it is built upon a completely different platform, it is a bit less featured than v4 and its interface is very different but it works very well.

Is this UniFlash v3's CLI standalone?

From what I see, I still need to have the UniFlash v3 installed on my PC in order to use this CLI, am I right?

Hi,

Unfortunately no. Uniflash v3 does not have a standalone version of its command line interface.

Despite this, Uniflash is a lot smaller than a typical CCS install, therefore minimizing the impact in production environments.
