CCS: SciTools Eclipse Plugin for "Understand"

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am trying to install the "Understand" eclipse plugin from SciTools.

I am able to point to everything that SciTools wants in the plugin installation description, but when I try to go through with the installation CCS tries to update MORE than just the specific plugin. Is there a way to keep CCS from trying to update more than just the plugin for "Understand"?

  • Todd,

The update manager will look through dependencies and find other items that are required. I just tried installing this in CCSv7.3.0 and it didn't show anything else as being required, though my 7.3 install is a bit dirty so maybe something else I installed added the required items. This is all Eclipse stuff so their isn't much you can do to control it. What version of CCS are you running?

    Regards,
    John
  • Hi Todd,

I just installed the update. It seems to install fine with my CCSv7.3.0 installation

I didn't notice CCS trying to install anything beyond the Understand plugin (and required dependencies). It will check all the update sites (assuming you enabled the  “Contact all update sites during install to find required software” check box as instructed in the instructions) but should only install what is needed. Do you recall what unrelated components CCS tried to install?

     Thanks

  • All:
Due to our environment, I am stuck at CCS 6.1 - I wish that I could be at the latest...

It looks like CCS is trying to install a number of items, some totally unrelated to the C6678 processor that we are using. It finally fails with the following error:

An error occurred while configuring the installed items
    session context was:(profile=epp.package.cpp, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Configure, operand=null --> [R]com.ti.xdctools.update.feature.group 3.31.0.24, action=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.natives.actions.CopyAction).
I/O Error while copying C:\Apps\ti\ccsv6\eclipse\features\com.ti.xdctools.update_3.31.0.24\com.ti.xdctools.update.properties - see details.

  • It could well be that I am not able to install the Understand plugin because of all the other "automatic updates" that are attempted to be applied...
  • I just successfully installed the plugin in my CCSv6.1.0 installation. So it is not the plugin that is the issue. Looks like CCS looking for all available updates in the update sites and hit some issue with the XDCtools. Odd. Did you try applying any updates via 'Help->Check for Updates'?

You can also try the manual installation option at the bottom of:
    https://scitools.com/eclipse/

The dropins folder location is: .\ccsv6\eclipse\dropins

    Thanks
