CCS: Error connecting to the target: (Error -260 @ 0x0)

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Using CCS V8 and following the instructions in Developing with Contiki-NG in Code Composer Studio to the letter. I am unable to connect to the XDS110 on the launchpad. Worked with a TI FAE for days without any success. Tried multiple re-installs and other suggestions to no avail. The xdsdfu utility does not detect anything. Tried changing ports, cables and launchpads.

  • Hi,

Error -260 is described in the following reference:
    software-dl.ti.com/.../ccsv7_debugging_jtag_connectivity_issues.html

The diagnosis seems to indicate the TM4C device on the XDS110 pod of the Launchpad may be void of firmware. Before giving up on your launchpad, can you try the method to bring the pod back as mentioned in the thread below?
    e2e.ti.com/.../2461054

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael

P.S. sorry, I clicked on the TI answered button by mistake and can't undo this.

  • Turned out to be a problem with a USB 3.0 port connected to a USB 2.0 hub and then the launchpad. When I connected the launchpad directly to the USB 3.0 poet, it all worked fine.

  • Hi,

Thank you for reporting the source of the problem; unfortunately the large number of peripheral suppliers and computer systems make the troubleshooting and thorough testing almost an impossible task - I, for example, have a USB2.0 hub (Dlink DUB-H7) connected to a USB3.0 port (Dell WD15 Dock) and have no issues.

    Regards,
    Rafael
