BURR-BROWN Spice Based Macromodels

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hi,

Is there somebody that may still have on files the OPAMP macromodels made by BURR_BROWN (See pdf https://www.ti.com/jp/lit/jaja207)?

At the origin, OPAMP Spice macromodels were contained on a floppy disk! (I know, this is the old days ;-)) And they were inside directory:

A\

--CIR_MOD

--ENH_MOD

--MPZ_MOD

--STD_MOD

Thank you to take a look into your old spice fils

Regards

Bruno

  • Hey Bruno,

Are you looking for a specific device? Also is there a reason you are specifically looking for the Burr Brown macromodels?

I think the quickest way to access some of the older models is through TINA-TI under the spice macros tab.

    Best,
    Jerry

  • Hello Jerry,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

My first need was to get a better idea of the internal construction of the PSPICE operational amplifier models when generated by PSPice Model editor, particularly with technology JFET input. Since I use to have plenty of convergence problems. And this Burr-Brown article lets thinking about the presented model are similar to the one produce bu PSpice Model Editor

But also I do have a general interest to have a look into these old models.

Note that this article gives most of the details to code in spice. So I believe I will be able to rebuilt most the text files, but I take chance to ask on the this forum to save some time

    Best Regards

    Bruno

  • Hey Bruno,

Good news and bad news. Bad news, we no longer have the floppy disk containing the Burr Brown macromodels. The good news is they are all still accessible! You can refer to the list of op amp macromodels in that document and find the corresponding netlists in TINA-TI.

You may download TINA-TI at the following link:

    https://www.ti.com/tool/TINA-TI

In the tab Spice Macros, select the 1st symbol

It will pull up a dialog box where you can find many devices.

You can place (for example) the OPA644X model in your schematic.

Double-clicking the symbol will open up a menu, where you can "Enter Macro" and open up a plain-text netlist for the device, which is the original Burr-Brown macromodel architecture.

    Best,
    Jerry
