TIDA-010208: LD and PACK pin passive components

Part Number: TIDA-010208
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ769142

Hi,

I am writing to inquire about the reference schematic of TIDA-010208. I am particularly interested in the Schottky Diodes D45 and D46, which are connected to the PACK-. I would also like to know the purpose of the R138/D44 and R142/R141 parallel connection, as well as the R139/R140 resistors.

I plan on using the BQ769142 to create a BMS. Is there any software tool suggested by TI that I can use to simulate the BMS circuit before manufacturing?

Thank you for your time.

  • Hi

1:For the schottky diodes D45 and D46,  which are used to prevent reverse connection of the charger and negative voltage on the AFE PACK LD pin.

2: the user guide recommend PACK and LD have a pull-up resistor about 10K, which is related to the load detection of LD, when LD is used as an output pin, which needs to have 10k pull-up resistor, so you can see the LD-D44-R142//R141 path, when LD is used as an input pin, D41 is to prevent the AFE from being damaged by a very large voltage applied to the LD pin by the PACK+, R138 is used to limit current.
