TIDA-010083: TPS23758RJJR

Part Number: TIDA-010083
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23758

Tool/software:

Hello,

As per design guide TIDA-010083, The Auxiliary input voltage is designed for 18V to 36V, is this can be changed to 10V to 36V Auxiliary input voltage and what will be the maximum output power at Auxiliary input voltage 10V.

Also, it will be helpful sharing the design for smaller footprint Transformer and smaller than LDT1018-50R Transformer for 5V output 10W design a EP7 type Transformer and calculation spread sheet for calculating the COMP and APD resistors for different voltages.

Thanks for your help!

  • Hello,

sorry for the late reply, we did some calculations to check if it is feasible to do the full power also at 10 V input. With just 10 V at the input and 5 V 2 A at the output and the same transformer, everything will be very close to absolute maximum parameters. The duty cycle is at 75%, the switching current primary is at 1.45 A, which would already give conduction losses of 1.75 W, switching losses come on top. This will not be manageable in such a small design.

Also the secondary side will see a lot of current that the transformer, but also the rectifier FET needs to handle.

So for your application, please check Adapter Option 3 from the datasheet of TPS23758 and inject the auxiliary power on the secondary side of the transformer.

    Best regards,

    Steffen
