TINA/Spice/TPS53355: OrCAD issues error "ERROR(ORPSIM-15108): Subcircuit TPS53355 used by X_U1 is undefined"

Part Number: TPS53355
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

I am using the OrCAD Capture CIS - Lite ver17.2-2016.

I designed TPS53355 schematic however I cannot resolve error message.
The message "ERROR(ORPSIM-15108): Subcircuit TPS53355 used by X_U1 is undefined" is appear when Run button is pushed.

Do you have any idea for this cause?

  • Kohei,

If you click the menu "PSpice" and select "View Output FIle", is there a line start with ".LIB" or ".INC", like this?

If not, you have not included the model file. If yes, it could be that the encrypted Pspice netlist is not supported by OrCAD Lite.

I'd suggest you install the free TINA-TI offered on ti.com. There is a TINA model you can get from the TPS53355 product folder. Note the TINA-TI does not restrict the size of circuits can be simulated as long as your computer can handle them.

    Thanks,
    JC

  • JC-san,

I will attach my screen shot.

There was a line  start with ".LIB", however there was not a "tps53355.LIB".

  • Sasaki-san,

I don't have OrCAD Lite so my comment is based on Allegro Design Entry. You probably generated a symbol for the TPS53355 using the model. That only used the pin information. To run the simulation, you still need to include the model file:

  • JC-san,

    Thank you for your answer.
I got a following new error message. Does this mean we can't simulation with OrCAD of free version?
"ERROR -- EVALUATION VERSION analog Node Limit (75 Nodes) Exceeded!"

  • Sasaki-san,

Yes, the lite version has node limitations as well as no support for encrypted models. You will need the full version of OrCad Versions 15.7 and above. Alternate options are to use TINA-TI for your sims. It is free of cost and the TINA-TI model is available for this device.

  • Nikhil-san,

    Thank you for your answer.
I know we can do TPS53355 simulation by TINA-TI. However we wanted to simulate TPS53355 with Marvell processor AVS function.
    So I tried OrCAD simulation.
I understood we cannot simulate with current condition.
