WEBENCH® Tools: Military customers unable to use online based tools

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello Webench team,

I just had a call with a military based customer, who mentioned that they were not allowed to use webench because it was an online tool. They apparently are only allowed to use offline tools (TINA, SPICE programs, Atlium, etc) for confidentiality reasons. I suggested the Altium Webench plugin, but now as i look into it a bit more it seems that you still must start the design on webench online and then export into this altium plugin...is my understanding of that correct?

Thanks,

Brian

  • Brian,

You are correct. The Altium Connector does not have WEBENCH designs bundled with it currently. User has to download the designs from WEBENCH.

  • Brian,

To add some more details, WEBENCH is an online design tool and you can select products and create a power supply design in WEBENCH. The tool also provides features to do CAD export to tools such as Altium/Orcad/Eagle etc. and simulation export to tools such as TINA-TI/Altium/PSpice.

Running simulations in TINA-TI or Altium (requires WEBENCH Altium connector plugin installed) or PSpice can be done offline once you have the simulation files downloaded from WEBENCH or from ti.com.

The WEBENCH Altium connector (www.ti.com/.../altium-connector.html) plugin has an extra feature that will let you launch WEBENCH inside Altium but that feature still requires an internet connection.

Please let us know if you have more questions.
