TIDA-01512: Unable to find TPS53681 device in the fusion GUI

Part Number: TIDA-01512
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53681

Hi TI team,

I am presently implementing the multiphase reference design from TI in my LS2 based project. I have installed the GUI but I am not able to find out the PWM controller IC (TPS53681) in the fusion GUI. So please let me know how to get the device in the list of devices supported by the GUI so that I can program the NVM of the PWM controller.

  • Hi Tai,

If there are any other TI parts on the bus can you see them in the GUI or is nothing at all showing up? Also, are you using the USB-to-GPIO cable or some other method? The USB-to-GPIO is the preferred dongle we recommend.

One other thing to check out is if the TPS53681 is disconnected from whatever else on the bus might be controlling it like an MCU or other supervisor. Programming the NVM won't work if something else is sending commands to the part.

    Cheers,

    Carmen

  • Hi Carmen,

I was about to open the GUI in offline mode and configure the device but I was not able to find the device in the list of devices supported by the GUI.

  • Hey Sai,

That will do it. The TPS53681 doesn't support the offline option in the Fusion GUI unfortunately so it won't show up on the list of regulators. The GUI has to see a board connected for this particular part. I recommend ordering one of the controller EVMs and using that for your testing. It's laid out for all 6 phases on the main rail but you can disable two of them to match the TIDA you're looking at.

    Cheers,

    Carmen
