WEBENCH® Tools/LM5164: Export of layout fails for all formats except for TINA-TI

Part Number: LM5164
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

First, I have to admit that I am completely new to Webench.

I used the tool to create an efficiency-optimized design for the DC/DC converter LM5164 and would like to export it to a common format (like e.g. Altium Designer or CadSoft EAGLE).

Unfortunately, there is always the error message "Export failed" shown just a second after I hit the "Export Design" button in Webench.

The only format I am able to acquire is TINA-TI which is not suitable for me.

My idea is to take the downloaded design and request production of a corresponding PCB from an online assembler like e.g. Multi Circuit Boards.

I hope that someone with more experience can shed some light on the reasons why I can't export my LM5164-based layout...

Thanks for your support!

  • Hi User,

Please note that for LM5164 device the IC doesn't have an Altium symbol and footprint linked with it due to which the exports are failing. We have requested the concerned team to look into it and will let you know once it is fixed.

Meanwhile, you can refer LM5164-Q1 device for your reference which uses the same BOM (except the orderable IC) as that of LM5164.

    Regards,

    Atul.

  • Hi Atul,

thank you very much for your kind support - and sorry for my belated reply!

Changing the IC model for the design immediately resolved the issue, just as you described.

Hence, I have been able to generate and download the Altium export. So I can now try to find a PCB assembler that can build that highly efficient DC/DC converter using the LM5164 IC based on the layout proposed by WeBench.

    Thanks a lot! :)

    Best Regards,

    Andreas
