PMP40500: Will the 500W PMP40500 case be raised to 1000W, is the solution feasible, and are there any considerations for circuit design?

Part Number: PMP40500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5036

Hello.

I want to refer to your PMP40500 case (54V / 12V / 42A / 500W) case and make a (80V / 48V / 21A / 1000W) prototype.

I wonder if the solution is feasible?

What should be paid attention to in circuit design?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

PMP40500 is a half-bridge reference design. As we know, the transformer utility is not better than full bridge transformer. 1000W is more challenges for half-bridge considering the efficiency, secondary FET voltage stress, size. We can use the LM5036 doing full bridge design. All we need to do is adding two half bridge driver on the primary and one bridge leg.

    Thanks.

  • Thank you.
Since Vin in this case is greater than 100V, presumably the LM5036 is not applicable.

Someone recommended me to use the phase-shifted full-bridge case.
