PMP5582: Driver calculations

Hi

I'm an engineering student and I'm planning to use the PMP5582 to drive my high power LED.

I'm currently strugglingto understand the circuit.

Firstly I don’t understand how you calculated the values of the resistors and capacitors used in the design.
I also don’t understand the function of the INA193A-Q1, does this chip just monitor the output current?

I’m planning to use this design to power a LED 1A@12V with batterys, does the input voltage needs to be higher than 12V in order to fully power the LED or can it also be around 8V and still get 12V 1A at the output?

    Thanks for your question. What do you mean when you say that you do not understand the "values of the resistors and capacitors used in the design"?

    If you need a design example of a boost converter, you can check page 26 of the datasheet of the TPS40210 :

    Another useful example can be found at page 35 of the same datasheet.

    From the schematic of the PMP5582, you can see that the input voltage for this design can range from 5.5V up to 18V and the converter will regulate the output at 12V (please notice that the maximum load current is 1A)

    The INA193A-Q1 is a current shunt monitor, practically it measures the voltage across a sense resistor placed between a power source and the load. Let me know if I can help you furthermore.
