PSPICE-FOR-TI: Using of Cadence PSpice Model Library

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI

As I read, Cadence® PSpice technology offers more than 33,000 models. These models are automatic available in geniune PSpice (no need to download them). But PSpice for TI is a free version with constraints and is shipped with TI's libs.

Is it possible to use the Cadence PSpice Model Library in PSpice for TI?

How?

Attila

  • Attila,

The Cadence PSpice Model Library is integrated with PSpice for TI.

  • Hi JC,

I saw it in the past. They are all of generic types. e.g. If I want to select diodes, then I only see a few types (3pcs) here. This is right in all of cases in the tree.

The PSpice library talkes about 33.000 parts/model with named manufacturer part numbers and I would like to select e.g. exact diode type 1N4148.

It seems, 1N4148 diode is extist in this library: | PSpice

When I search for exact type in PSpice for Ti 2020 (e.g. "1N4148*"), I get empty list.

What's wrong? How can I do it?

PS: I'v read this ticket too: What is the procedure to download the libraries? | PSpice

  • Hi Attila,

You are looking at the right category. However, as PSpice for TI is tailored for Texas Instruments, a semiconductor vendor, there're complications for including models supplied by other semiconductor manufacturers.

You can still include those models in your simulation, but they may take the tool into the limited mode.

  • Hi JC,

    How?

I understand the limits, but I can not find the way how could I use Candance's libs (with 33,000 models). They are online libs in geniune PSpice and are not available to download them in separately.

Using of .lib file is okay for me in PSpice.

  • Hi Attila,

Those models are packaged with the commercial version of PSpice, there's no mechanism to get all of them in one go other than installing the commercial version.

You'll have to download what you need.

    Thanks,
    JC

  • Hi JC,

Okay, after this , it's clear, that these components are not available from "PSpice for TI" as part of system.

    >You'll have to download what you need.

    From where?

Only from outside of Cadence, from the internet?
Or, is it possible to download component libs from Cadence?

Are you thinking components as external lib?

    Attila

  • Attila,

I am afraid that you'll have to search and download these individually from the web.

    JC
