TIDA-00699: capacitor placement recommendation

Part Number: TIDA-00699

Hi,

In the reference schematic of TIDA-00699, the input capacitor is cascaded with right angle placement. May I know the reason? Thanks.

  • Hello,

Though a much older design, originally this was done as redundancy to mitigate effect of one capacitor failing short and shorting input to GND. They were placed perpendicularly (in layout as well) to cover condition where board flex in either x- and y-axes may result in one of those capacitors failing short.
