Hello,

I am using LAUNCHXL-CC2650

BLE SDK 2_02_07_06

CCS7.4

Compiler TI v5.2.6.

I have successfully done OAD update using the simple ble peripheral example code. and I can update my BLE application over the air.

In process, by mistake I deleted the folder "FlashOnly_OAD_ExtFlash".

So, Earlier I was able to see .bin file of the project. But now, I don't see any file with .bin being generated in that folder.

I have done Rebuild of project then also - No luck.

We are using this file for OAD update from android application.

I have also attached Images of post build setting.

do I need to change anything in post build settings?

Any solution?

Hi Dnyaneshvar,

I would recommend reimporting the example project used to develop your custom application and copying the FlashOnly_OAD_ExtFlash folder over to your custom project. Afterwards, I would try to recompile and see if the project is able to generate the bin file as before

The file with .BIN extension I was looking for was generated by "BLE Device Monitor" when I was attempting OAD update using BLE Device Monitor tool. And was not generated by CCS.

It is "BLE Device Monitor" who takes Intel Hex file as input and generates .bin file then sends it over the air for OTA.

It has nothing to do with CCS IDE.

But this is one extra step for me to do open "BLE Device Monitor" every time just to get the .bin file by manually doing the task.

I hope this can be possible by CCS by adding some post build command to it.

Hi Dnyaneshvar,

The Section 5.4.1 On-Chip OAD in the CC2640 BLE OAD User's Guide covers covers how the .bin file is generated. In short, the oad_image_tool is used here. You may be able to use that tool in your post build step to generate the bin file.

Hi Jan,

We have started using the file generated by default setting of CCS in post build steps section.

ie file appName_OAD.BIN file. We no longer need the file generated by BLE Device Monitor which was appName.BIN file.
