This is an inquiry regarding the 48MHz parasitic noise of CC2340R52E0RGER (24pin package).

1. Test condition

- FW: TI example source

- Tx, Rx test used Smart RF studio

- RF signal measurement: Pin1(ANT), no filter

According to the EMC test standard, the limit below 1GHz is -54dBm, but the current spec is out to about -47dBm at 48MHz.

2. LP-EM-CC2340R5(chip package: CC2340R52E0RKPR(40pin package)) test

- 48MHz parasitic noise not detected

Our schematic and PCB layout were designed with reference to the TI example schematic. However, I would like to inquire about what causes the 48MHz frequency to occur.

One of my key customer, I-SENS is evaluating CC2340R52E0RGER(24pin package) and found out technical issue.

Thanks for posting and support design review. at the same time, could your team support this?

Customer wants to make sure if there is any package variation on EMC performance especially 48MHz. This is because customer did the same test with TI EVM and found out there is no issue on LP-EM-CC2340R5(chip package: CC2340R52E0RKPR(40pin package)) test even though same FW was downloaded. the only difference is package type, customer said.

So if your team would test with 24pin package device(CC2340R52E0RGER) as same as customer did, it would be great help to compare each other and find root cause.

Would you do this test and share the result? Thanks.

Hi,

Our evaluation and validation tests do not show any increased spurious emissions on the 4x4 package when compared to the 5x5 package.

I see the customer already sent the files for the design review. We will process it as soon as possible.

The latest datasheet information contains the validation tests performed on the CC2340R2 and R5 devices.
