Hi,

Device: CC2640R2 (BLE)

IDE: IAR 7.8

SDK: simplelink_cc2640r2_sdk_1_35_00_33

On the process of porting our existing cc2640r2 multirole with custom oad project to BLE5, we noticed shortage of ROM.

We again compared base code "Simple Pheripheral" of BLE4.2 and BLE5. And there is code size increase of around 30KB in BLE5 stack.

Can be found in below/attached image.

And this is preventing us from adding applications. How to resolve this?

If you have to use BLE5 features, it will cost more Flash. If you don't have to use BLE features, you can run example not under BLE5 example folder.

Hi Chen,

Looks like, then we are going to run in to the same problem we had, when implementing the full feature set as in CC2640.

Is there any plan to optimize the code to free up more flash for application development or a new controller out in to the market with higher flash memory (say 256 KB?) in any time soon?

This info will be helpful in deciding our future strategy.

I am not TI employee so I cannot speak for them. TI employee cannot reveal product roadmap on E2E forum so I suggest you to contact TI local representative to sign NDA to get these information.
