TRF7960A: Problem with RF transmit output cutting off

Part Number: TRF7960A

Hello,

I have a request for advice on a problem that occurs on some of out rfid readers.

We are using the TRF7960A. I have implemented a tag sniff solution base around one of your application notes.

Where the reader does a sniff and then a full read if it looks like a tag may be near by.

On occasion I am finding the tx output is cutting out on some builds. Solution at the moment is to replace the IC.

Below are screen captures of the output of the diode envelope detector, which sits on the RF tx path.

First one is normal output . The initial spike is the sniff.

This second one if from a reader with the rf tx output cutting out

I’ve included an output of the sys_clk to show that the system clock looks good through out.

I am operating with a supply of 3V, with VDD_RF = 2.7 V, VDD_A = 2.7 V, VDD_X = 2.7 V.

Could a supply issue be causing this. For example on the VDD_RF. Or a poor connection on a pin?

Many thanks,

G
