TRF7963A: How to Read Multiple RFID passive tags with this part?

Part Number: TRF7963A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRF7962A, TRF7960A, , TRF7964A

hello everyone, i am working on a project in which i have to read Multiple RFID passive tags at same time like 200 to 300 tags in the same time. i just search on internet and found that for my project i will need a anti-collison protocol to read multiple tags at same time , and also ISO 15693 standard IC. so i found the TI "TRF7963A, TRF7960A, TRF7962A" this ICs listed on some websites. and i found they all are used for RFID tag reader and writer, and i also found that i need to interface one of this IC with MSP430 micro-controller,  so can any one help me with my below questions.... it will be a great help...thanks in advance.

1] which IC i should use for my project?

2] which IC gives range of reading 200 to 300 tags at same time?

3] is it possible to make this reader battery powered ?? how?

  • Hello Jagrutkumar,

Okay first off let me set your expectations correctly for our devices. 200 tags is impossible. Even 20 tags would be a challenge and not at all trivial. Our devices have maximum output power of 200mW, and what you are seeking to do will require very high power readers far beyond what we support.

Also, you'll never be able to read such a large amount of tags with a battery. Purely impossible for RFID.

Now then, that said, if you want to read multiple ISO15693 tags, the TRF7964A is the best device for that.

For advice on hardware for evaluation and recommended software packages, you should reference our device FAQ: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sloa246/sloa246.pdf - note that for your application you'd want our RFID software offerings, not the NFC ones as they don't support anticollision.
