Good Day. I have a customer who has a concern with regards with the datasheet of LPSTK-CC1350. Please see below his query for your reference.

One of our solutions, under development, is to connect multiple sensors (temperature, humidity, magnetic door switch, and energy clamp meter) to the gateway (raspberry pi, Jetson nano). Then be able to view on our cloud. We saw the LPSTK-CC1350 use case on the internet that uses the sub-1GHz with the collector, and it was great. We want something similar to use, but instead of using a collector, we want the gateway to be the collector. Is there is a way to make the raspberry pi and Jetson nano work as collectors? If not, is there a way to make the collector push the data directly to the cloud? or add the collector to the gateway?

Hi Ray,

First of all, please note that the LPSTK-CC1350 is a development board and not intended to be part of a product.

We have an example of using a BeagleBone black (BBB) as collector, would they be interested in this device?

I'm intersted in using the raspberry pi and jetson nano as collectors, can we connect the co-processor directly to these devices via usb?
Also, can we use RS485 communication directly on the co-processor?

Hi Ray,

In theory this is possible but they would need to port the host example from the SimpleLink Linux Gateway SDK on their own.

We have not implemented RS485 communication.

It seems a good option. For the coprocessor, can we use Launchxl-CC1352R1? Also, how many end nodes, one coprocessor can handle?

Hi Ray,

Yes they can use the Launchxl-CC1352R1 for the coprocessor using the coprocessor example from the CC13x2/26x2 SDK.

The possible number of devices will vary with the level of security they need. We have estimated that the max will be somewhere between 150 and 200 devices.

That really great. Since we can use Launchxl-CC1352R1 as a coprocessor, what devices we can use as end nodes other than lpstk-cc1352r?
Also, I tried to initiate sub-1GHz communication between Lpstk-cc1352r and CC1350 Sensortag, but no messages were received as shown in the image
I used rfWsnConcentratorOadServer_CC1350STK_tirtos_ccs for CC1350 Sensortag and dmm154sensor_remote_display_oad_lpstk_app_CC1352R1_LAUNCHXL_tirtos_ccs for Lpstk-cc1352r.
And I used the EU frequency band.

Note: I have a debugger for the CC1350 Sensortag which is SensorTag DevPack, however, I don't have a debugger for the lpstk-cc1352r so I use OAD.
That's why I cannot use lpstk-cc1352r as a Concentrator. Since I will not be able to see the Serial communication messages using Tera Term

Hi Ray,

My assumption is that any CC13xx device should be supported, including CC1350 LPSTK ( and CC1310 LaunchPad, CC1350 Launchpad).

However, OAD is not compatible between CC13x0 and CC13x2 versions of the TI 15.4-Stack.

Can you ask them which version they are using for each device?

- Simplelink CC13x2/CC26x2 SDK for the Launchxl-CC1352R1

- Simplelink Linux GW SDk for the linux host

- SimpleLink CC13x0 SDK for the CC1350 Sensortag

Note that it's not a product called " LPSTK-CC1350". Are you referring to CC1350STK or LPSTK-CC1352R?

I used the following:
1- "rfWsnConcentratorOadServer_CC1350STK_tirtos_ccs.bin" flash image for cc1350 Sensortag
2- "dmm154sensor_remote_display_oad_app_CC1352R1_LAUNCHXL_tirtos_ccs_868MHZ_secure.bin" flash image for Lpstk-cc1352r
3- I used "Tera Term software" on a windows device to read the UART communication from the "cc1350 Sensortag" using DevPack debugger

Note:
I used OAD to upload the flash image for LPSTK-cc1352R using the TI Starter App. There is no OAD communication between CC13x0 and CC13x2.

Hi Ray,

The problem is the rfWsnConcentrator example, this example does not support TI 15.4-Stack.

Can you ask them to use the TI 15.4-Stack collector example instead? They should be able to run the LaunchPad version of the example without any alterations.

I tried using it, but there is no collector.cfg file or config-phy-id. And by default the the collector use the 433 bandwidth. how can I change it to 863 bandwidth?

Hi Ray,

You can select the PHY the following way:

- Open config.h. This file is found in the Application/subg folder.

- Find the CONFIG_PHY_ID define

- You can find the full list of PHY IDs in api_mac.h.

I have changed the config file to CONFIG_PHY_ID (APIMAC_STD_ETSI_863_PHY_3), but this time there is no output tera term terminal. See the png

Hi Ray,

I would use the Debug mode in CCS, run the example past initialization (a few seconds), then pause the debug session and check the call stack.

I did use the debug session in CCS cloud for the cc1350 sensortag, but couldn't find call stack. Also, I ordered Launchxl-CC1352R1 to test it and be able to debug the cc1352r lpstk. So, I still could not see any output on the terminal, I think I should see "TI RTOS" at the top then "waiting for nodes". I will try the new setup using Launchxl-CC1352R1 as the collector and the lpstk and sensorTag as end nodes. I will update you soon.

Now I have three TI devices:
1- Launchxl-CC1352R1
2- LPSTK CC1352R
3- SensorTag CC 1350
How to connect all of them and use the terminal to see sensors values?

Hi Ray,

If they have an active debug session and press pause, the call stack s found under the bug symbol.

I'm not sure whether the CC1350 Sensortag or CC1352R1 LPSTK is preprogrammed with an application that writes over UART. You can see the landing page for the details. Here you can also see an image of how to connect with a LaunchPad in order to use the debugger.

Hi Marie,

Good Day. Using the tera term customer was able to detect the LPSTK, the issue was that it shows only the temp value. How can we get values from other sensors? Thank you very much.

Hi Ray,

To my understanding, you need to connect with a BLE central and read the sensor values. (The LPSTK will print them over UART when they are read.)
