CC1101: frequency selection in RF STUDIO unlock ?

Part Number: CC1101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1352R

I would like to use cc1101 and PA for audio sender device that operates GFSK 200khz spectrum ( < 200kbps )

in the 606 – 614 MHz range.

1, Can the CC1101 function at these frequencies with the same power efficiency as the regular 433mhz etc bands with the correct front end tuning?

2, how do remove the padlock in Smart RF STDUDIO so I can enable these frequencies?

Is there a better transceiver  part choice that can modulate 2 or 4 FSK / GFSK  in the 606-614mhz range?

thanks in advance ,

  • Hi,

    1. The CC1101 is not designed for operation in the 606 - 614 MHz range (nor are any of our devices, after looking). Please see Section 3 in the CC1101 Datasheet: https://www.ti.com/lit/swrs061

Therefore, we have not characterised our devices at this band.

    2. Trying the CC1352R in SmartRF Studio (to test our latest family of devices), it allows the user to attempt to transmit/receive at 606 MHz, but gives the error code in both cases:

     0x0809 ERROR_SYNTH_PROG Synthesizer programming failed

As none of our current devices are designed for the frequency band you are interested in, the devices will likely not currently transmit/receive in this band due to the modem.

  • OK, thanks for taking a look Zak.
