cc1101 pcb design

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101

Hello

I will be making soon some PCB's with the cc1101 chip and wanted to ask if my layout is ok , or if i can improve some things in my design ? I already made a few PCB with this chip and found the range to be pretty poor , the design was slightly different.

All the components and values are according to the design Specs provided by TI.

info regarding the design:

PCB width = 1mm

Freq = 868 MHZ

antenna = wire

402 components

26mhz Crystal

Here is my new design:8546.Untitled.pdf

And here are some pictures of privios  designs :

This is a 868MHZ module , but the range is fare

and this is the 433 MHZ module i made .

Also i think the range could be better :

I would be very happy if some one could tell me what i could improve in my design to get better range:

Best regards Simon Gross

  • The first thing to do if you suspect that you have poor performance is to measure conducted first. It could be that your schematic/ layout needs improvement but more likely is that your antenna is not 50 ohm.

    - Check conducted tx and rx

    - Check the antenna impedance

    - Ideally you should have added some matching components

    Note that the antenna impedance will be very dependent on the surroundings in this case.
