CC1310: Reflashing XDS110 on CC1310 Launchpad

I have a CC1310 launchpad that is showing a red light next to the XDS110 whenever it is plugged in via USB, and it does not show up in the SmartRF programmer. I have verified that this cable works on another launchpad. Does anyone know how to re-upload the firmware on an XDS110? I have tried using another launchpad with a JTAG cable to reprogram it with no success.

Try to use xdsdfu.exe to update the XDS110 firmware. Read ReadMe.txt in C:\ti\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110 for more information.

I have tried this, and it does not work. The device does not show up when running 'xdsdfu -e', even though it is plugged in with a red light.

Are you able to put the device in DFU mode? (xdsdfu -m)

The device shows up in device manager but is not found by the xdsdfu utility. The device does not appear in the SmartRF programmer either.

Do you connect LAUNCHXL-CC1310 directly to PC USB socket or through USB HUB? Is there other USB device connected to you desktop at the same time?

It is connected directly to the PC and there are no other USB devices. I have tried other ports with no success. Other launchpads work fine on this cable and USB port.

Run out of idea. Do you buy LAUNCHXL-CC1310 less than 30 days? If so, I would suggest you to ask for replacement from www.ti.com/.../returns-refunds-and-cancellations.html

This is a new CC1310 launchpad that worked once or twice before this problem arose.

Yes, I do. I've tried programming it through the working launchpad and that did not work either. I think the XDS110 is dead.

Ok, it could be worth trying to reprogram the bootloader of the malfunctioning XDS with the healthy Launchpad. See the setup below

With Uniflash you can reprogram the bootloader with a fresh FW image. The bootloader image can be found under your CCS installation, as such:

<CCS>/ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110/boot_loader.bin

In Uniflash, select a new session with TIVA TM4C1294NCPDT and select connection XDS 110.

Yes, a single red LED on with the green LED off indicates the unit is bricked. The firmware threw a Cortex M hardware fault of some sort, and the main thread of the firmware is no longer running. That you can see the XDS110 in the Device Manager indicates the fault occurred after the initial USB setup (once enabled, USB activity is interrupt driven, so the enumeration with the PC host occurs whether the main thread is running or not).

It looks like either the firmware is corrupt or there is some other hardware problem causing the fault.

What exactly did you do to reprogram it using JTAG? If the firmware was corrupt, that should have corrected the problem.
