Hello Fariya,
In order to see which features from Bluetooth 5.1 are available you can check using the declaration ID to search in LaunchStudio. The relevant declaration ID for WL1835MOD bluetooth 5.1 is D057247 and you can search this in the listings at https://launchstudio.bluetooth.com/MyProjects/ListingsSearch.
Best regards,
Jonathan
Fariya,
At the webpage I mentioned earlier all of the features which the WL1835MOD have to meet in order to be considered bluetooth 5.1 are listed under the link on the launch studio webpage: "View ICS Details". To summarize the certification most of the 5.1 features are optional and the WL1835 does not meet them (because they are optional).
In general this device is compliant to bluetooth 4.2 and compatible to bluetooth 5.1, but has none of the new features for 5.1. Again this is all well documented under "View ICS Details".
Hope this helps.
Jonathan
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your prompt replies. We don't have a BT SIG membership and hence not able to see the ICS details. Do you mind putting in the details here? What does it mean to be compliant to BT 4.2 and compatible to BT 5.1? If you don't mind could you explain the difference between compliance and compatible?
regards,
Fariya
Hi Fariya,
I have access to BT SIG but there is no way for me to efficiently share with a non-member the ICS details. In order to work around this I just saved the webpages as PDFs and I attached them here. Hopefully it's clear enough in this format. There is a lot of information there some hopefully it should say what your looking for.
To clarify what I meant concerning the 4.2 compliance: the WL1835 device has all of the special features up to bluetooth 4.2. In order for the device to be considered 5.1 there are no extra features that are required, so the WL1835 does not have any of the new features past 4.2. However because these features are optional (as shown in the ICS details), WL1835 is still considered as meeting (compatible) the 5.1 requirements, because all of the mandatory requirements were unchanged from the 4.2 certification. To see exactly the bluetooth capabilities you can also reference the WL1835 datasheet available on ti.com but the ICS details are much more detailed.
Hopefully this helps.
Regards,
Jonathan
