My customer has a question about MAX3232.

[Q]
When DOUTX shorted to GND,  VCC or DOUTY, What behavior does the MAX3232 do?
Does the MAX3232 ignite or smoke?

    The shorted DOUT current depends on DIN. I guess what you meant are worst case for each scenario, which means the device will burn max power. Like it's mentioned in the datasheet, if the short-circuit condition doesn't exceed the device absolute power dissipation rating, the device should be OK. If it is, the device will be burnt. Please let us know if you have further questions about this topic.
