OPA548: Shutdown mode question

Hi. I have a question related to the SHUTDOWN mode of OPA548. I have been testing the circuit shown in the image below. The OP amp is configured as a follower, with an input voltage of 3.5V. The OP amp is in shutdown mode, as the pin E/S is LOW. With this configuration, is it possible to apply 4V2 at the point labeled with "4.2 V"? Could this configuration damage the OP amp? This situation could be present in the real design, so I need to be sure that all is ok. Thank you in advance for your help!!!

    Hi Jose,

    The OPA548 shouldn't have any problem with +4.2 V being applied at its output while in shutdown, in your circuit. The output of the OPA548 appears much to the outside circuit as a high impedance during shutdown. It isn't an infinite impedance and it will draw a small current from the applied voltage, but likely only a few milliamperes.

    Figure 16 from the datasheet and show below provides information about the typical output leakage current vs applied output voltage.
