THS3217: Power Supply Decoupling of THS3217

Part Number: THS3217

Hi

We plan to use the THS3217 in one of our designs. Looking at the power supply recommendations, the data sheet as well as the eval board propose a cascaded scheme. I.e., first the power supply voltage is brought to the output stage supply pins (8 and 13) through a first 'ferrite - C' filter and then, through a second 'ferrite - C' filter, to the input stage supply pins (5 and 16).

Is there a particular reason for applying this scheme? Why not using a 'star-like' one, i.e., connecting the output stage supply and the input stage supply over an individual 'ferrite - C' filter each directly to the power supply voltage.

Thanks and kind regards

Pat
