ISO124: Alternatives to Tantalum bypass caps

The ISO124 datasheet recommends the use of Tantalum bypass capacitors on the power supply pins. Is there a reason why Tantalums were recommended?

Just wondering if there is any reason why Ceramics could not be used as long as the capacitance was increased to compensate for temp, voltage and long life deratings.

The application requires very low bandwidth.

Hello Gregory Prusaitis,

Ceramic capacitors can also be used with the ISO124 for decoupling the supply pins and otherwise.

Thanks for the reply. I just didn't know if there was a specific reason Tantalums were preferred.

On another note, the continuous isolation voltage is rated as 1500Vac.

Were the parts under test subjected to 1500V for the 1,000 hr. duration of the test?
I need help to better understand how well this device is suited for >1000V DC applications with very long life requirements.
