Hello,

Our customer using TLC555-Q1 as 500Hz oscillator.
Then there are the frequency interference in their system.
Are there any application note of spread spectrum of TLC555-Q1 oscillator?

Best Regards,
Ryuji Asaka

  • Hi Asaka-San

We have contacted the applications engineer responsible for this device. Someone will get back to you shortly.

  • Hello Asaka-san,

Your request for assistance with the TLC555-Q1 was sent my way, but the -Q1 automitive version actually resides with TI's Automotive Products group. Nonetheless, I will try to assist you.

I did not find a specific TI applications note regarding a TLC555 spread spectrum application. However, I did find information in the NE555 data sheet (the bipolar version of the timer) on pages 13 and 14, showing pulse-width modulation and pulse-position modulation techniques, respectively.

I do think the pulse-position application could be applied to spread the frequency over a range and reduce the spectral frequency content at specific frequencies.

A comparator, op amps and even another TLC555 could be used to generate the triangle wave required at the TLC555 CONTROL input. Here's an example of one based on two op amp sections that I found on the web:

    I hope this helps.
