LMK04803 synchronization

Hi

I have some questions on programming the LMK04800 Clock Jitter Cleaner, in particular synchronizing the clock outputs.

In our application, we are only using Clock Groups 0 to 2 and all will be set to the same frequency with the same i.e. 0 delay. Under these conditions, will all rising clock edges be aligned by default i.e. is there any need to create a SYNC event?

Section 8.2 RECOMMENDED PROGRAMMING SEQUENCE states: "Registers are programmed in numeric order with R0 being the first and R31 being the last register programmed." For the conditions described in the previous paragraph, will this create synchronized clocks without a synchronization event?

Thanks in advance, Edward

  • After all registers are programmed, you still need to generate a SYNC event to phase align the outputs.  This can be done by toggling the SYNC_POL_INV register bit or toggling the logic state on the SYNC* input pin.
