Linux/TMS320DM8148: QT on Davinci Linux EZSDK

Part Number: TMS320DM8148

Tool/software: Linux

Hello
My customer has a requirement where they are considering using qt, as a method of overlaying buttons and signals, extending their application. Since it is a present product variant, they are still thinking of keeping the current ti_d814x based unit, working with the EZSDK version  5.04.00.11.

They are asking if there is any SDK version that support QT 5 instead of QT 4.7.2. ?

In addition what is the position with Royalties

There is a mention that “The DaVinci Linux EZSDK is free from TI, and does not require any run-time royalties” but they are wondering if this applies to QT licensing as well. From what they have seen in the SDK, the QT Framework included is Qtopia which is a discontinued version of QT Embedded. Does owning the Davinci EZSDK mean that they can write non-GPL Qtopia applications without a QT license? Or do they still need one?

Finally they are not sure about the qt version it has, namely qt 4.7.2, if it abides by the old qtopia licencing model, where you have to abide by either GPL or commercial licence, or whether it comes from the mainstream QT 4.7.2 which has an LPGL model too. In the SDK we see references to qtopia, but browsing on the internet, qtopia seems like a discontinued framework with maximum version 4.4.3 (from Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qt_Extended ). So perhaps there has been an update in the SDK to have the mainstream QT 4.7.2 version? Similarly can we manually upgrade to QT 5+, even though the latest SDK (5.05.02.00) still supports 4.7.2?
