TLK2541

Can the TLK2541 be used as a PRBS generator/checker only?  The parallel buses would not be used.  Any concerns with doing this?  Any application info/examples for this?

Thanks.

  • Peter,

TLK2541 can be used to generate a 2^7-1 PRBS pattern (per data sheet) and the resulting serial data stream can then be fed back into the receiver of a TLK2541 or a Bit Error Rate tester (assuming the BERT can support 2^7-1 PRBS) for verification.  In PRBS mode, the normal parallel I/O is ignored. We do not have any special application note related to using the PRBS function other than what is in the data sheet. One thing to note is the reference clock still needs to be provided to the device just like in normal operation of the device and the device needs to be enabled.

    Thanks,
