TPL7407 negative voltage at stepper motor driving

Hello, guys,

We and our customer are in trouble at the negative voltage problem of TPL7407 output when we drive stepper motor by TPL7407.

Kazuya-san,

The attachment did not work. Please try again.
It is normal to have some negative output voltage when driving a stepper motor because it has center tapped coil winding.
The negative voltage will not cause a malfunction.

Kazuya,

Yes, I see the file.

The diode is low resistance and can handle the current transient.

While it is not needed, using RC snubbers may reduce the transients.

Here is a sweep of the diode to ground on pin 16 (the farthest from ground pin)

by the negative voltage?

Kazuya,

Yes that is correct. The TPL7407 will not be broken.
