Hello

We currently have a product with USB interface using MSP430F5510 and it has been working well. Recently Ireceived two back from field and it fails to enumerate as a USB device. On power up the device goes and performs it initialisation ok e.g lights flash, all IO port are okay etc. So I belive nothing has been damaged. On one unit I re-flashed it and all works okay. On the second unit we removed the MSP430F5510 and I want to use the emulator using MSP-FET430UIP emulator to find out if any part of the flash is damaged. How can I do this? any ideas would be welcomed.

With MSP430Flasher and the FET you can read and save the memory content.
If you have the original C source files you can attach/connect to the MCU using CCS and so debug without re-flashing.

Hi Leo

Thank you, that has helped me to find out why the unit stoped working. I use InfoC and InfoD segments to stored some default vaues. What I dicovered was that InfoD segment was reset back to 0xFF. Now I am not sure what has caused this...can we use InfoD to store any values?

InfoD (and A, B & C) can be used to store values. I never had a problem with these, but here on the forum there are some post’s with this kind of problem, search for them.
