INA300: Compatibility with INA301 - replacement for INA300

Part Number: INA300
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA301,

Hi,

We have an INA300AIDSQ designed in to our device. However, these turns out to be hard to find, so to enable production quicker we are looking into changing to a INA301 since that is available as of now, and trying to make the device production swappable. We are using the INA300 as a sensor attach detection, enabling our system to sense if a sensor is attached or not based on it drawing current. Functionally, we want the same. However, there are a few feature differences between INA300 and INA301. I have looked through the datasheet and I think that the following two schematics should result in the same behavior if we use the INA301A1.

I plan to use the same passive components for both devices. Does the schematic make sense and is it plausible that this change will function?

Thanks and regards,
Oskar

  • Hi Oskar,

I also think that you could switch to INA301 and it will work.

Unlike INA300, INA301 doesn’t have a delay pin. Also the Rlimit value may need some adjustment in order to achieve the same comparator threshold. Other than that you should be ready to go.

    Regards, Guang

  • Hi Guang,

Thanks for your answer, missed the delay line. We have that connected to GND, which means that it's at 50µs. The lack of the delay line in INA301 should however be covered by a larger hysteresis, I don't expect the power to fluctuate a lot either way. I aim to have them interchangeable in the design though, just in case.

Yes, I see the Rlimit needs adjusting, but that should be doable, thanks!
