Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMCS1107
Hello,
I'm looking for a CB Test report and CB Test Certificate for AMC3330. Is it available somewhere on a webpage and I just can't find it?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Matiss,
Do you know which certifying body (CB) test report you are needing?
We test our devices to UL and VDE standards and I've added links to both reports below. Further information about the tests can be found on the certifying bodies websites.
UL:
VDE:
For future reference, this documentation (and any updated versions) can be found here: https://www.ti.com/isolation/technical-documents.html
selecting "Certificate" for "Document Type" and searching either UL or VDE.
Additional information about our capacitive isolation barrier can be found here: https://www.ti.com/isolation/capacitive-isolation.html
Dear Alexander,
Thank you for your replay,
Sorry that I didn't clarify that at the beginning - we are listing our product at CSA and we are asked to provide test report which includes Reinforced insulation test.
Your mentioned links I have already found in TI webpage and also UL IQ webpage but they only provide info about the test existence.
We use also TMCS1107 in the same product and I found this report: /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/14/E484495_2D00_A6001_2D00_CB_2D00_1_2D00_Original-TMCS1100-IEC-Test-Report11.pdf which was accepted by CSA and I'm looking for similar report for AMC3330.

Hi Matiss,
I'm looking into this, please allow some time for my next reply.
Where did you find this document for the TMCS1107?
Hi Alexander,
I asked also UL for this test report, but they say that TI is the holder of this document.
Regarding TMCS1107 I found it also on TI forum where someone was asking for this report for similar needs. Here is the link to that particular thread: e2e.ti.com/.../3633312
Somehow this link was not pasted properly: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/980725/tmcs1100-request-safety-related-certification-schedule/3633312?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=2D00_Original-TMCS1100-IEC-Test-Report11.pdf#3633312 so here is the full link.
Hi Matiss,
This document is testing a component to an end equipment specification IEC 62368-1 - which we have not tested our isolated amplifiers to. We only test our devices to component level standards, such as Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. (DIN) Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) V 0884-11 and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1577.
As stated in this document: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slyt810/slyt810.pdf
Some end-equipment manufacturers have their products certified by third parties to verify that they meet isolation specifications. Isolated amplifiers are not measured to these specifications themselves, since they are components inside end equipment, and end-equipment standards apply only indirectly to them. Instead, components are measured against device-level certifications such as Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. (DIN) Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) V 0884-11 and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1577. As stated in the IEC standards, devices complying with component-level standards that have equivalent requirements do not require separate evaluation.
Thank you Alexander for your answer.
As I understand after what are you saying is that we will need to make additional tests to this component based on the standard which we are trying to get for our end product? But if we use IC which is tested to an end equipment specification then it is enough to provide just a CB Certificate and there is no need for additional tests? Do I understand correctly?
Hi Matiss,
As I understand it, once your end equipment is completely assembled, it will need to undergo end equipment specific testing, such as IEC 62368-1. There are many end equipment standards and which ones you test to depend on what the end equipment is, what level of performance (and/or safety) you guarantee and which markets it will be sold in.
Our AMC3330 is tested to component level standards (DIN, UL) that demonstrate that our device is capable of providing the isolation necessary for the end equipment to pass the end equipment standards with equivalent ratings (i.e. IEC) when used as specified in the datasheet. As I mentioned above, components that comply with component-level standards do not require separate evaluation to end equipment standards by themselves.
I do not believe that using an IC which is tested to an end equipment specification removes the need to test your end equipment as a whole since it is possible that the device is not being used correctly schematically and/or in layout within the end equipment itself. Of course, the testing bodies will need to verify that the end equipment is constructed correctly as well.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Got it! Thank you very much for your detailed explanation.
Listing sometimes in our days goes not so deep in safety testing than in just paperwork and it gets harder to understand what is what.
Have a great day!
