TLC2201-SP: Can I tie NC pins to GND?

Part Number: TLC2201-SP

In space conditions due to ionizing radiation a charge is accumulated on any floating metal hence the NC pins should be tied to some known potential to avoid electrostatic problems.

Are the TLC2201AMFKBQMLV NC pins floating and can I tie them to GND?

  • Hello Victor,

TI's standard for packages having NC designated pins means there is no internal connection to the pin. Therefore, they are floating and you should be able to connect the NC pins to ground, or another potential with no effect on the op amp's performances.

Where you don't want to make such connections is when the pin is labeled DNC, or "do not connect." In those rare cases something internal to the die is connected to the pin and used by TI for measurement or trim purposes during manufacturing or test. If a DNC pin is electrically connected to something in a circuit it will likely disrupt the normal operation of the device.
