OPA365: P2P solution for OPA365

Part Number: OPA365
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMV793, SM73302, OPA607, OPA863

Hi team,

May I know if we have p2p replacement for OPA365AIDBVR or OPA365AQDBVRQ1? Customer is using OPA365 Q and non-Q part but facing supply shortage. I'm checking on ti.com for the sockets have stock. May I know if the decompensate amp such as LMV793MFX/NOPB or SM73302MFX/NOPB can p2p replace OPA365 SOT-23-5 package? Shall customer add external compensation cap? Do we have better choice for p2p replacing OPA365 without modifying external circuit?

Thanks,

Scarlett

  • Hi Scarlett,

Yes, the LMV793 and SM73302 are possible P2P OPA365 alternatives. The OPA607 is a similar and more modern device. Sometimes these will work as a drop-in replacement without any modification in an OPA365 circuit.

If the customer's gain is below 10V/V (or <6V/V for OPA607), then they might need an external compensation component to use one of these decompensated amplifiers. I attached a draft of a cookbook which I wrote to explain three different external compensation methods.

An additional concern with these replacements is their longer overdrive recovery time. This is a problem if the amplifier's output voltage is expected to reach the output rails during normal operation. For these applications, we are releasing a 5-pin P2P OPA863. A 6-pin version (with a power down pin) is already released. It has a short overdrive recovery time like the OPA365.

    Best regards,

    Sean
