LMH34400: Is it OK for LMH3440 being a TIA to convert small current of photo diode to voltage

Part Number: LMH34400

Is it OK for LMH3440 as a TIA to convert small current of photo diode to voltage?

The output of LMH3440  is 1Vp-p, would you please suggesst me what kind of OPA is suitable to output 2V for this photo diode detection application

  • Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your question. Yes theLMH34400 is a great choice as a TIA for small current to voltage conversion and it does have a maximum output swing of 1Vp-p. For a device with similar integrated features, the LMH32401 is a similar device but features a fully differential output and slightly lower integrated gain at either 2kΩ or 20kΩ, and has a maximum output swing of 1.5Vp-p.

As a discrete option, the OPA855 allows for a full 3Vp-p output swing and is also a transimpedance amplifier. It is a decompensated amplifier with a minimum gain requirement of 7 V/V. For a unity-gain stable option, see it's variant the OPA859 which allows for 2.5V-p-p output swing.

All of the devices listed above are great for photodiode applications and can be selected from based on your specific system parameters.

    Thank you,
    Rachel
