INA240: Check INA240A1 can be used in this condition

Part Number: INA240

Hi there,

I just want to check is that possible INA240A1 can be used in this condition:

Vdc=48V

Current sensing type: 3phase inline current sense

Shunt resistor: 3mohm*2  in parallel

Maximum continues current: 110A

Maximum pulsed current: 200A @1ms

If those conditions is not recommand use INA240

Could you recommand another solution for those condition?

Thanks

Kevin

  • Kevin,

    Current sensing type: 3phase inline current sense
    Maximum pulsed current: 200A @1ms

    Do you need to sense current during 200A or do you need this to be a bidirectional current sensor? If either of these things is true the gain of the INA240 will be too high for your application. I would reccomend the INA241x1 or INA296x1 which both have gains of 10V/V. The INA241 in particular is made for switching applications and so would be ideal for dealing with current pulses such as you describe.

    Vdc=48V

    I am assuming that the voltage never goes below -4V, the operational limit of the device.

    Let me know if you have any more questions,

  • Hi Levi,

    Do you need to sense current during 200A or do you need this to be a bidirectional current sensor?

    Yes, both condition are what I need.

    Thanks for your suggestion and I will consider INA241x1 for my design.
