INA229: INA229 SPI

Part Number: INA229

Hi all,

I would like ask you about INA229. I bought 10pcs from Digikey but I have problems with communication via SPI. INA229 still do not response from any register. I tried change speed, I also changed IC 3 times without any progress. Connection between arduino and INA229 seems to be OK.

Thanks a lot

  • Hello Milos,

From the scope shot, it looks like the low level of the clock floats up from GND during communication. This needs to stay below 0.4V for the communication to be successful. Some MCU's have a setting you can change to allow them to sink more current to help drive this low.

  • Hello Mitch,

thanks for your quick response. I measured all four signals and they all are below 0,4V (approximately 0,06V). Maximum amplitude of signals is about 5V. The INA229 is powered from Arduino MEGA2560 5V.

    Thanks

    Best regards

    Milos

  • Hello Milos,

From those last scope shots you sent, it looks like the signal is very noisy, with many voltage spikes. The digital I/O pins cannot handle voltages lower than GND - 0.3V or higher than VS + 0.3V. From your scope shots, it looks like both of these conditions are being exceeded, which may damage the device. This is likely why they are not responding.

    Regards,

    Mitch
