TLV2462A-EP: ABS MAX Input Voltage Rating

Part Number: TLV2462A-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV2462A

I am trying to understand the TLV2462A input voltage absolute maximum voltage ratings.  The only thing listed is the Differential input voltage spec, but it looks more like an input voltage (Vi) spec.

Is the datasheet correct?  If so, does this mean the part cannot take more than -0.2V differentially?  Please clarify VID and VI absolute voltage ratings.

Differential input voltage, VID . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . − 0.2 V to VDD + 0.2 V

  • Hey Michael,

It looks like this spec was trying to tell you both about the input voltage limitations and the differential voltage limits. So from this spec, you can tell that there are diodes to V+ and V-, with roughly a .2V forward voltage. But if your supply is 5V single-ended, you can put -0.2V on one terminal to 5.2V on the other terminal, or vice versa.

I agree this wording is confusing, and will submit a note to get this corrected in future datasheet revisions.

    Best,
    Jerry
