TLV9164: SO# 944207 - Per customer the parts are not solderable...

Part Number: TLV9164

Hi,

can you possibly advise on a customer issue regarding the OP-Amp TLV9164IPWR ?

The customer states:  "PINS discolored , no soldering possible"

The customers soldering details:

reflow solder profile attached brelow, but I'm not sure if you can open this..?

33273307.4-001(ME02071052).pdf

The solder paste is a lead-free "No Clean" solder paste formulation with no halides.
The micro-alloyed alloy consists of SnCu0.7Ag1.0NiGe.

The parts we shipped to the customer  have Date Code: 2222 and are from Lot#: 2439849MY2

Are there possibly any known issues with this Lot?

Thank you very muich

Best regards

Adnan

  • Hey Adnan,

The picture you've included in the post is not shown in the report. Could the customer share the full image showing the part number? I ask because it looks more like a header connection than the PW package pins.

Additionally, I looked at the attached document through a translator and compared it to our existing document:

MSL Ratings and Reflow Profiles (Rev. A)

It appears that the red line matches well with the industry standard but the blue line appears to be significantly more steep slope:

From my understanding, the reflow profile used in the test can be anywhere between the red and blue from which the following would be violated:
"Ramp up rate from TL to TP (must not exceed 3°C/second)" and "Cool down rate from TP to TL (must not exceed -6°C/second)"

Therefore, I recommend the customer adjusts their solder reflow profile to those discussed in the document.

    All the best,
    Carolina
