INA290-Q1: Negative voltage operation error

Part Number: INA290-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA290, INA193

Hello,

My customer designed INA290 for DC/DC output voltage monitoring as shown below.

P15V_CS is output normally, but N15V_CS is not output normally.

N15V_CS should output 0.016ohm * 0.4A * 50V/V = 0.32V, but 0V is output. Even if the load on the N15V_CS output terminal is changed from 0.4A to 0.8A, the N15V_CS voltage is measured as 0V.

There was no problem when they used the INA193 with the same DC/DC as shown below.

Please advise on the cause and solution for the issue with negative voltage monitoring.

Thank you.

JH

  • Hello JH,

The reason that the INA290 does not function is because the VCM range is from 2.7V to 120V and does not meet the -15V requirement.  The INA193 has a VCM range of -16V to 80V which does meet the -15V requirement needed for you system.

    Regards,
