Good day.
A question on the BUF802 noise. I desire to provide a noise match to the BUF802 and maximize SNR, hence minimize NF.
The model appears to support my calculations very well and operates as expected.
In the data sheet there is Figure 6-19 which provides the desired optimal noise resistance to 100 MHz.
I need to extend this data set to 500 MHz. The voltage noise appears flat at ~ 2.3 nV/root Hz, but the
noise current is rising quickly above 20 pA/root Hz.
Can you provide the noise V and noise I values at 500 MHz? And perhaps provide a curve set that fills the void 100-500 MHz?
Thanks! Alan Victor
Hi Dr. Alan Victor,
I looked through the data we have for this device, and unfortunately the only noise data that was collected was the data highlighted in the datasheet. However, the same trend can be expected from what the graph highlights going into the higher frequencies. This is because capacitive reactance of the input capacitors will decrease with frequency translating to higher current noise.
Best Regards,
Ignacio
Thank you Ignacio. Yes, this appears to be the case as the model and the noise simulation results in
a general trend line that indicates a smaller R source is required to lower the NF as frequency increases.
Hello Dr Alan , find the updated input referred voltage and current noise plot for BUF802
Is the scale on the current noise correct? The data sheet has it at ~ 20 pA/root Hz at 100 MHz. This graph shows it considerably less.
