AMC3301: Can HLDO of AMC3301 to drive high side power supply of another AMC1300?

Part Number: AMC3301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1300, AMC3330

Hi experts,

Can HLDO of AMC3301 drive the high side power supply of another AMC1300?

I see that supply current of AMC1300 is about 6mA.

  • Hi Jim,

The AMC3301's high-side supply current for auxiliary circuitry is only 1 mA which is not enough for the AMC1300. Hope this helps!

  • Hi Eva,

    Thanks for your reply!

Or can we use high side DCDC output to drive an external LDO to provide power supply of AMC1300?

  • Hi Jim,

The DCDC_OUT pin is not intended to be used for external circuitry; it is used as input for the AMC3301's high-side LDO.

Still, the supply current for auxiliary circuitry is limited to 1 mA so I don't think there would be enough power for the AMC1300. What external LDO are you considering?

    Best regards,

    Eva

  • Hi Eva,

OK, we want to use AMC3301 to drive AMC1300 or drive an external LDO like TPS76633 and then power the AMC1300. Maybe this solution can't work for the limited current.

Actually, we need an isolated amplifier for two-channel voltage sampling, but we don't want to change the original flyback and two AMC3301 are over cost. Could you give some advice for another solution?

  • Hi Jim,

What application are you using these devices for? Have you looked at the AMC3330? This is a device that could work well for voltage sensing applications.

Adding an LDO will just increase the power dissipation, so I don't think this is the solution to go for.
